12th International Conference on the Short Story in English

The Society for the Study of the Short Story (S.S.S.S.), host of the 12th International Conference on the Short Story in English, is sponsoring its biennial short story contest.
Writers wishing to compete in the contest must do the following:

Submit a short story of no more than 25 pages (in Word format) to Maurice A. Lee, Conference Director, mauricel@uca.edu All manuscripts must be submitted electronically.

Submit a one page biography, including previously published works (note: new and emerging writers, globally, are encouraged to submit manuscripts).
•
The manuscript must be accompanied by $30.00 reading fee. Forms of payment are check, money-order, or credit card. Checks should be made out to The Short Story Contest, and mailed to:

All submissions must be accompanied by credit card payment or notification of payment in the mail, or manuscripts are not accepted.

Submission deadline is March 31, 2012
Reading of manuscript and notification of winners will be by May 31, 2012
Prizes are awarded for first, second and third place.

The first prize winner will be given the opportunity to read his/her story at the 12th International Conference on the Short Story in English being held June 27-30, 2012 in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Clark Blaise, chair of the society and contest judge, will present prizes to the winners.
